experiencing a museum like as a visually impaired person in Chile

One of the best ways to be sensitized about disabilities is experiencing them yourself.

The Cultural Centre Gabriela Mistral (GAM) in Santiago offers this experience where some of our colleagues from the office in Chile participated. They were blindfolded and walked close to each other, moving through different places within the centre, settling down in one place where an art representation would start and they would hear music and sounds, such as birds, rain, wind and even felt some raindrops. After a while they took off the blindfold and saw a mural that represents scenery of the south of Chile. This environment was created by a group of visually impaired people who represented their perception of the mural.
