Banner We Are Diverse: Argentina. How to create artistic performances that are inclusive?

Marc Brew, dancer and artistic director of the Axis Dance Company and Ballet Cymru, visited Buenos Aires in June 2016 to provide a master class and a workshop along with his colleague Natalia Mallo at the San Martin National University.

Marc specializes in the development of projects that incorporate access strategies to the elements of their performances like audio description, audio programming, captioning, signing, and access tours. He also provided a workshop on accessibility as a creative tool for artists, producers and venues.

He was also able to get in touch with local dance companies that work with disabled people, such as Grupo Alma and Danza sin Fronteras while visiting the companies´ rehearsal spaces and shared a class with them.

As a result, the Universidad Nacional de San Martín is keen to continue working in this area in order to shift people’s perceptions of disabled artists in Argentina and help arts organizations understand the type of high-quality work  being created and showcased in the United Kingdom and offer more accessibility at venues and.
